About the Speaker
Matthew Smith is the Airport Administrator for Glendale Regional Airport and has worked in aviation since 2001, when he began his career as a fueler and later drafting technician at Mesa Gateway Airport. He earned a Master of Science in Aviation Management from Arizona State University in 2007, where he studied airport planning under the legendary Larry Gessell. Matt has served in a variety of aviation roles with America West Airlines, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Yuma International Airport/MCAS Yuma, and the Grand Canyon National Park Airport.
Drawing on his experience in airport operations, planning, finance, and administration, Matt is passionate about helping general aviation airports become more financially sustainable through practical revenue strategies and sound business practices as an expression of free market principles. Matt is also an Arizona-licensed real estate agent.
