Join the WeSERV Government Affairs Committee in a conversation with the Salt River Project (SRP) Government Affairs Team! Registration is required for both in-person and Zoom attendees. In-person registration is encouraged and capped at 45 people. We would love to fill the room! Please arrive early. The presentation will begin promptly at 10:00 AM and will end at 11:00 AM due to the SRP team having another meeting shortly after.


We have the pleasure of welcoming 3 speakers:

  • Jason Baran is the Director of State Government Affairs for the Salt River Project (SRP), a community-based, not-for-profit public power utility and water provider. SRP is the largest electricity provider in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, serving approximately 1.1 million customers. He leads a team of government relations professionals that develops and advances SRP’s comprehensive interests and corporate strategy at the Legislature and Governor’s Office, as well as among public power entities in Arizona. Previously, Jason also led SRP’s public policy engagement with the cities, towns and counties throughout the State. Prior to joining SRP, he led legislative relations and public policy engagement for the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA), the association of the ten valley SRP water cities, and advanced state, federal and business relations for the City of Tucson, Arizona. His two decades of public policy experience include significant emphasis on the areas of energy, water, environment, fiscal policy, economic development, project siting, and land use.Jason earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and German Studies, both from The University of Arizona. He serves on the Arizona State Debt Oversight Committee, the Board of Directors for the Arizona Tax Research Association and is the co-chair of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s Budget & Tax Committee. Jason resides in Phoenix, Arizona
  • Fareed Bailey is a Senior State Government Affairs Representative for SRP, a community-based, not-for-profit organization providing affordable water and power to more than 2 million people in central Arizona. In this role, he is responsible for advancing SRP’s public policy priorities at the Legislature and Executive branch agencies through advocacy and relationship building with elected officials, staff and relevant stakeholders. Fareed was most recently Deputy Assistant Director, Director of Legislative Affairs and AZ529 Education Savings Plan Administrator at the Office of Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee. His prior experience includes many years helping legislators develop public policy as a Research Analyst and staffing Committees at the Arizona Senate, including Commerce & Energy, Natural Resources & Transportation, Finance, Federalism, and Financial Institutions. Fareed also has experience working in Washington, DC, having served as an Energy Program Research Associate at Taxpayers for Common Sense, and as a Senior Legislative Associate for the government affairs consulting firm Stateside Associates. Fareed earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA, and a Bachelor’s Degree, summa cum laude, in Political Science from Arizona State University. Born in Azerbaijan, he immigrated to the United States as a child and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2006. He grew up in Arizona and enjoys reading, hiking, music and traveling.
  • Alan Eder is a Senior State Government Affairs Representative for SRP. Prior to his role at SRP, he served as a senior policy advisor for eight years at the Arizona House of Representatives and as a financial program analyst for three years at the Small Business Administration in Washington D.C. Alan holds degrees in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Arizona and a Master’s in Public Policy from UC Berkeley. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking and hiking throughout Arizona’s trails and the desert Southwest.
